We campaigned against this Developer Led Initiative, which would have authorized and urged the City of Dublin to annex Doolan Canyon, opening this pristine area to large scale housing development. We won by a landslide.
We successfully lobbied our City Council to prevent rezoning the DiManto Property (across the street from East Dublin Safeway) from Commercial to hundreds of medium- density & single family residential units.
We were instrumental in the election of key city council and school board members.

We provided specific steps to DUSD that, in a relatively short period, led to a 50% increase in developer fees and the removal of the Demographer who had been providing the inaccurate data to DUSD for well over 10 years.

Di-Manto Property Remains Zoned For Commercial/Retail
History of Dubliners For Change
Dubliners For Change continues to advocate behind the scenes, and in the public eye, for the citizens of Dublin.
Our founders, working as "Friends of Dublin Open Space", authored the "Dublin Open Space Initiative", which established an urban limit border along the eastern city limits, maintaining the Doolan-Collier Canyon area as agriculturally zoned open space. Should any development proposals for the area come the city’s way, they would require voter approval. The Initiative was passed unanimously by the Dublin City Council.
Lennar Homes requested a General Plan Amendment, which, if approved, would have rezoned critical Commercial/Retail land into Residential, allowing up to 372 additional homes to be built on the property at a time when our schools are overcrowded.
We Successfully Lobbied City Council to Vote "No" on "The Green" Project
We alerted City Council and local media outlets about the potentially unscrupulous practices of a prominent Dublin Planning Consultant. This led to an independent investigation into his invoices ($4.5 million over 10 years), the city's accounting and ethics policies, and the eventual suspension and termination of his firms' contracts with the city.
Dubliners for Change is a diverse group of resident volunteers working together to ensure that our city is governed in an ethical, constituent-driven manner. We are dedicated to the preservation of open space and the environment, quality education free from school overcrowding, sufficient infrastructure to support our city, and the development of a premier pedestrian friendly downtown.
DFC Founder David Bewley, and other concerned Dublin citizens, were instrumental in the passage of Dublin's Heritage Tree Ordinance
We successfully rallied the community to keep the 15+ year promise of a Pedestrian Friendly Community Gathering Place alive by petitioning City Council to prevent the developer's request to rezone the land to allow many residential units and much less commercial/retail space.
